(The Medias Portrayal of Patriots, Militia Members and Survivalists)
What the public sees on television and reads in mainstream publications,
is with rare exception fantasy mixed with a few kernels of truth.
There is so much misinformation and disinformation in the medias depiction of
the Patriot (Sovereign-Citizen), Militia and Survivalist communities,
it should come as no wonder that the general population views us as tax evading anti-government gun nuts.
The Connecticut Survivalist Alliance (CSA) won't lie to you,
the "fringe elements" that have long given the Patriot (Sovereign-Citizen),
Militia and Survivalist communities a bad reputation are still out there.
These "fringe elements" need a reason to justify having some firearms and some
equipment, so lacking a word to describe themselves,
they label themselves Patriots, Survivalists or a Militia.
Some have a religious or profiteering agenda.
"It's OUR way or NO way, and if you don't believe exactly like WE do, you're going to Hell or must DIE!"
Their basic tenet is not much different from the intolerant Islamic zealots.
Just as when there's a natural disaster,
the media looks for the most ignorant imbecile they can find to stick in front
of the camera.
The individuals we call "media whores" are usually of the profiteering vein.
They are often knowledgeable, but have a one track mind.
They want to sell you a product or service and have minimal interest in anything else.
The reason the CSA brings this up,
is that numerous individuals have asked us to recommend a Group or Unit in their area.
We don't really endorse any non-CSA group or affiliate per se.
We can offer you the basic advice of not joining any group that doesn't practice
Operational Security (OPSEC),
and not getting involved with any group that has a religious or
profiteering agenda.
